Description
Job Summary:The Assistant Director of Development, Young Alumni and Student Philanthropy, Loyalty Giving, will assist with coordinating engagement and solicitation efforts for current students and young alumni (1-10 years from graduation). The Assistant Director will help oversee the planning, implementation, and support of programs that educate students and young alumni about the value of philanthropy, promote engagement, and encourage and solicit participation through giving (and service) to TCU. This position will collaborate with fundraising and communications teams, colleagues across University Advancement, and external partners, to execute strategies that drive regular and recurring giving. The Assistant Director also will manage the student engagement program and recruit, train, and mentor a team of student workers.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Assists with the planning, implementation, and execution of initiatives aimed at increasing education, engagement, and philanthropic support among current TCU students and young alumni.
2. Oversees the student philanthropy fundraising and engagement center aimed at integrating multiple communication channels, such as phone, video, texting, and email, to reach donors.
3. Manages a team composed of student workers and/or temporary employees. Regularly evaluates team performance, identifies opportunities for improvement, measures outcomes, and reports recommendations.
4. Fosters an environment of collaboration, cooperation, and excellence, including establishing equitable and consistent metrics for student accountability.
5. Collaborates with the Leadership Gifts team to coordinate outreach strategy to cultivate, renew, retain, acquire, and steward TCU alumni, parents, employees, and friends through the student philanthropy fundraising and engagement center.
6. Collaborates with the Digital and Direct Response Philanthropy teams to develop and execute a coordinated marketing strategy for students and young alumni. Assists in the administration and design of marketing and communication materials for students and young alumni.
7. Acts as point of contact for undergraduate philanthropy education, class giving, senior class campaign, student giving society, and stewardship efforts for student donors.
8. Collaborates with partners across University Advancement and the campus community to achieve transformational results for TCU.
9. Assists in compiling and analyzing results and prepares reports for internal use. Advises on planning strategies for future philanthropy initiatives, concepts, and themes.
10. Assists in evaluating giving patterns and monitoring progress toward alumni participation goals.
11. Stays abreast of marketing trends, creative ideas, and annual giving best practices.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in direct marketing, fundraising, nonprofit, annual giving marketing, public relations/ communications or similar.
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Experience working in higher education and/or fundraising
• Familiarity with Blackbaud CRM
• Familiarity with student calling and engagement programs
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and graphic design
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• None
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• Formal graphic design training and/or demonstrated skill with graphic design tools
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge and experience in direct mail or digital philanthropy.
• Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques.
• Skill in both written and verbal communication, including excellent proofreading ability.
• Skill in segmentation and messaging strategies.
• Skill in problem solving, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.
• Skill with graphic design tools, including, but not limited to, Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple, large, complex projects through to completion.
• Ability to work within a CRM (Blackbaud CRM).
• Ability to identify trends and patterns in constituent/engagement data to drive decision-making.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced organization.
• Ability to maintain strict adherence to confidentiality as required.

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
