Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologists Lakeway and Temple Texas
Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking BC/BE Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologists for our Advanced Heart Failure Transplant team for the Greater Austin Region and Temple Region. Our heart failure services, including remote monitoring, disease-specific approaches such as amyloidosis and sarcoidosis as well as heart transplant/ventricular assist devices, temporary MCS and our involvement in interdisciplinary programs are growing.
You will join a team of 9 advanced heart failure specialists that serve the advanced heart disease, replacement and recovery program at BSWH for Central Texas and Greater Austin. Our regional team currently supports approximately 200 temporary mechanical circulatory support devices and 50 heart replacements annually with a focus on quality and longitudinal well-being for our patients and caregivers.
The advanced heart failure team supports interdisciplinary programs as part of an integrated-based approach including robust structural, surgical, and multimodality imaging team members. The candidate will have additional predominant inpatient service responsibilities related to the LVAD/HTx program with an expected inpatient rounding, VAD/HTx clinic, including ECHO for VAD/HTx and invasive procedures (RHC, Implantable PA monitor and endomyocardial biopsies).
Highlights of the Greater Austin Region – Lakeway Position
Duties include inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultation service. Additional responsibilities may include ACGME education of Cardiology Fellows and rotating service on the inpatient cardiac transplant service at BSWH Round Rock and BSWH Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas
Qualifications
- Must be UNOS qualified for the care of patients with cardiac transplants.
- An interest in education and research is encouraged, but not essential.
- Provide coverage for Transplant, inpatient and outpatient services.
- Predominant amount of time in Lakeway.
- Expected call 1:4 in Round Rock location (Recovery program)
- Expected call 6 weeks a year in Temple location (VAD/HTx program)
- Dedicated HF nurses and APP once a week with plans for expansion.
- Opportunity to perform Cath lab procedures (i.e., right heart catheterization, implantable pulmonary artery monitors) and read ECHO for VAD and Heart Transplant

Qualifications

- Provide coverage for Transplant, inpatient and outpatient services.
- Outreach rotations may include Waco, College Station, Round Rock or Killeen.
- 1:6 or 1:8 call
