Description

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is actively seeking a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant to add to our inpatient practice at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Our team  currently consists of 2 Cardiac Surgeons and 4 Physician Assistants with plans for future growth. The ideal candidate would be someone who has previous surgical experience with a team centric mindset. We offer a competitive base salary, additional compensation for weekend coverage and call, bonus opportunities, a sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance if needed.

Highlights of our program include: 

• Inpatient and Outpatient Responsibilities 
• Surgical/First Assist on OR cases
• Harvesting vein (EVH) and radial artery harvesting for CABG procedures
• Placing arterial lines
• Placing central venous catheters and swan ganz catheters
• Placing chest tubes
• Inpatient consults and rounding 

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday, with one in four weekend coverage
  
  • Weekday responsibilities are rotated between 4 PAs and include inpatient rounds, OR first assisting, floor rounds, inpatient bedside procedures, consults, admissions, and outpatient clinic (as needed)
• Call required for this position (1:4)
  
  • Weekend responsibilities include inpatient rounds, consults, handling nursing calls, and coverage for urgent procedures/surgery
  • Weekend rounds and call are paid in addition to base salary
  • Post call weekend day off
  • Post call days off

• Aortic Aneurysm Surgery
• Aortic Valve Surgery
• Coronary Bypass 
• Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement surgery
• Major Aortic Surgery
• Thoracoscopy and Thoracotomy for Lung Resection
• Carotid Endarterectomy
• Peripheral vascular surgery

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a KY License
• Surgical experience preferred
• Cardiac Surgical experience preferred but not needed
