Note: Benefits may vary based on position type and/or level * PRN positions are not eligible for medical, dental, vision benefits, PTO accrual or tuition assistance. *Job Summary* The Chaplain 1 offers spiritual care as part of a holistic team approach. Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members, and staff, regardless of faith or religious affiliation. *Work Model for this Lakeway PRN Position* * Schedule: * Onsite every Wednesday, Daytime 9a - 6p * From home weekend on-call (Sat/Sun) * Special pay if not called in * Time and a half if called in to include set travel pay. * Coverage for staff Chaplain on vacation/education time as needed. *Essential Functions of the Role* * Organizes, promotes, and conducts religious services for patients, families, and staff. This includes weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and coordinating bereavement needs. * Conducts spiritual assessment of patients for spiritual and emotional care. * Provides emotional and spiritual support as needed for patients, families, and employees. * Facilitates the end-of-life care for patients and families. * Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. Works as part of a team to assess patient needs and improve care. * Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community. * Consults closely with staff chaplain or Pastoral Care Director as needed. * Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients. * Provides assessment and support of palliative care patients in accordance with joint commission requirements. * Facilitates advance care planning with patients and families. *Key Success Factors* * Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions. * Knowledge of the principles and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting. * Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations. * Able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing. * Interpersonal and listening skills. * Skill in counseling patients, family members and staff. * Ability to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress. * Denominational endorsement for chaplaincy, ordination or commissioning to ministry preferred. * General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, electronic medical documentation, and email. * Progress towards Board Certification as a chaplain in APC or NACC is highly encouraged. *Belonging Statement* We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported, and that our workforce should be reflective of the communities we serve. *QUALIFICATIONS* * EDUCATION - Bachelor's (Must be a completed Bachelor's) * Master's of Divinity preferred but not required * EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience * CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - * Minimum one unit of ACPE - CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education)
