Location: Methodist Hospital

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse - Wound Ostomy - PRN provides direction and coordination for a specific patient population with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. The primary area of expertise is in wound, ostomy, and continence management. This position also serves as a consultant to the healthcare team, offering specialized knowledge and support in these areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence needs, ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery.
- Serve as a consultant to the healthcare team, providing expertise and guidance on best practices in wound and ostomy management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans and educate staff on wound and ostomy care techniques.
- Monitor patient progress and outcomes, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize healing and patient comfort.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding wound care, ostomy management, and continence issues.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in wound and ostomy care through continuing education and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Associate of Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license required.
- Must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required; other advanced life support certifications may be required based on unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Current certification in Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (CWOCN) is required within one year of becoming eligible for certification.
