Stone Garden Group (SGG) is a newly established single-family office, headquartered in Houston, Texas. SGG’s mission is superior alpha generation, leveraging a dual competitive advantage of a wide mandate and a long-term investment horizon of a young principal.
Stone Garden is founded on the integration of advanced analytics and AI driven automation of data collection and management, research workflows, investment underwriting, thematic development, and risk management.
The team is comprised of professionals from leadership roles in private markets, hedge funds, commodity trading, and operational management across institutional asset management and global energy firms.
Opportunity:
SGG is seeking a Director of Analytics/Research to report directly to the CIO. This is a senior leadership position, tasked with spearheading the firm’s data analytics, risk management, and investment monitoring functions.
Stone Garden has a strong focus on private market investing, with an initial emphasis on applying a data focused approach to fund investments, co-investments, GP Stakes, and secondary investments. SGG will also maintain the flexibility to pursue opportunistic direct and public market investments as opportunities arise.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage thematic research on macroeconomic, geopolitical, and sectoral trends
- Develop and manage risk frameworks and stress-testing processes
- Build dashboards for portfolio monitoring and performance attribution
- Direct data collection and ensure consistency of research inputs
- Partner with investment team to integrate thematic insights into deal evaluation
- Present findings to the CIO and Investment Committee
This position offers the opportunity to sit at the center of the investment process, taking on substantive responsibilities that directly inform decision-making at the family office.
Requirements

The successful candidate will bring:
- 10+ years’ relevant experience in research, strategy, consulting, or investment management
- Demonstrated interest in applying AI and data science to financial or economic research
- Comfortable experimenting with various tools (Python, SQL, NLP models, LLMs, data visualization, AI platforms) to generate insights
- Curiosity and bias for innovation: interest in how technology will reshape private markets and investment analysis
- Strong analytical, communication, and synthesis skills
- Deep understanding of financial markets and economics (private capital is a plus)
- Advanced degree and CFA preferred, but not required
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and detail-oriented
- Humility, desire to be part of a high achieving team, growth mindset
- STRONG work ethic and self-motivation
- Ability and eagerness to present ideas (written and verbal)
