- Director of Content Strategy
Description
Poston Communications is looking for a Director of Content Strategy with strategic vision and editorial precision to help shape our content division in the midst of the emerging attention economy.
This senior, hands-on role is perfect for a sharp writer, creative problem-solver and client-focused communicator who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment. Someone who can roll up their sleeves to lead complex client accounts, design smart strategies grounded in research, insight and business goals, and create compelling content.
This role is ideal for someone who can think big and execute fast. You’ll be a senior contributor on a growing team, working directly with firm leadership and national clients.
If you bring strategic vision and editorial precision, enjoy turning complex ideas into compelling stories, and are equally comfortable writing, editing and developing smart strategies, we’d love to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development of integrated content strategies that align with client business goals, brand positioning and audience priorities – and result in measurable impact and revenue.
- Ensure the collaboration with PR, design and business development teams to ensure content supports broader media and growth strategies.
- Build messaging architectures, editorial calendars and content pillars informed by market research, analytics, surveys and interviews.
- Identify opportunities for original research (e.g., surveys, reports, infographics, etc.) and help shape both the content and amplification plans.
- Drive and contribute to the creation of smart, well-written content across formats – blog posts, LinkedIn thought leadership, legal award submissions, internal campaigns and more.
- Translate complex legal and professional services topics into clear, engaging narratives that resonate with sophisticated audiences.
Client Leadership
- Serve as the day-to-day lead on client accounts, delivering proactive ideas, managing timelines and building strong relationships with CMOs, lawyers and other stakeholders.
- Guide content planning conversations with confidence and clarity – ensuring strategy, execution and communication are always moving forward.
- Drive consistent, responsive communication with clients and internal teams.
Performance & Innovation
- Track and analyze content performance across the omnichannel universe (SEO, engagement, media pickup, rankings success) to continuously refine strategy.
- Understand and utilize earned, paid, digital / other channel segments to create breakout and / or viral content campaigns.
- Develop and apply AI-driven strategies to streamline workflows, improve targeting, surface insights and inform content creation best practices; research and recommend new AI tools, platforms and resources to enhance results.
- Bring new thinking to how we produce and present content – suggesting process improvements, templates, style updates or strategic tools.
- Contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team culture that values quality, accountability and service.

- A standout writing portfolio that demonstrates clarity, tone mastery and the ability to make complex topics accessible and persuasive.

- Experience developing and promoting content based on original research or data (e.g., surveys, reports, white papers).
- Strong client management skills, including the ability to lead conversations, provide thoughtful feedback and deliver on deadlines.
