DescriptionJob Summary
Partners with the Epilepsy Program Medical Director, Neurodiagnostic Medical Director, Epilepsy Surgeon Program Leader, Neurodiagnostic Leadership, and Nursing Leadership in developing, expanding, improving, and sustaining the program across the continuum at a recognized local, regional, and national Center of Excellence (COE) status. Responsible for the development, implementation, review and revision of Epilepsy Program standards, policies, procedures, and protocols. Builds Program structure to meet all selected accreditation body(s) standards, national registry elements, and U.S. News and World Report standards to achieve top ranking.
Job Specific Duties
- Serves as an active member of the Brain Institute Leadership Team.
- Develops financial, growth, satisfaction, and clinical metrics to reflect performance of the department.
- Directs and participates in special projects that promote the growth, efficiency, and operations of the program.
- Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to develop operational and strategic goals and objectives consistent with the National Association of Epilepsy Centers - Level 4 and the DNV or Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification in Pediatric Epilepsy.
- Works in a dyad leadership role with the Epilepsy Medical Director to coordinate the development, implementation, review, and revision of Epilepsy Program standards, policies, procedures, and protocols based on current clinical practice guidelines.
- Co-leads the Epilepsy Leadership and operations meetings including a) agenda & minutes, b) reports for clinical metrics/core measures, c) actions, timeline, and responsible person.
- Contributes to and supports execution of the Center and Institute's Strategic Plan.
- Maintains a clinical dashboard including outcomes metrics in the clinical, functional/QOL, and perception of care domains.
- Identify trends and patterns and opportunities for improvement, maintaining two QI initiatives ongoing.
- Supportive to the financial dashboard and improvements against targets.
- Reviews all epilepsy related order sets annually/on-going with Medical Directors, Nurse Navigator, and epilepsy committee.
- Monitors compliance with epilepsy metrics and scorecard.
- Monitors compliance with national epilepsy regulations and guidelines.
- Identify and participates in performance improvement initiatives.
- Partners with Clinical Education to identify and address educational needs for staff around topics like target metrics and new guidelines/treatment.
- Rounds in epilepsy units with Unit Manager and collaborates regularly with the ICU Manager, Neurodiagnostic Manager, Radiology leadership, and Ambulatory, and Clinic leadership.
- Ensures full collaboration with Research and Medical Directors for desired outcomes with the National Registry Data like PERC, Epilepsy Learning Health System (ELHS), PedsQL or selected QOL survey(s), The National LAANTERN Registry, NIH RO1 Grant studies, multicenter studies, and all epilepsy research.
- Supportive and engaged with COE presentations, publications, and talks.
- Accountable for U.S. News and World Report Neurology metric reporting and outcomes to achieve top ranking.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field
- Registered Nurse within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- 3-5 years of clinical experience with the neuroscience population
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Lean certification and experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to apply mathematical techniques, logical, and analytical thinking to interpret operational/financial data, prepare capital/operating budgets, assess performance improvement, and solve a broad range of problems.
- Ability to interpret, adapts to, and reacts calmly under stressful conditions.
- Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other Health System personnel.
- Knowledge of purchase through payment process. Starting from supply chain procurement through accounts payable check issuing and then posting to the general ledger.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to query data from a database through Microsoft Excel pivot tables, Access or Crystal Reports.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Able to effectively monitor and develop the abilities of subordinates.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Knowledge of outlying data resources in order to analyze business proposition and referral patterns of physicians.
- Ability to pull and manipulate reports readily from various resources.
- Knowledge of TM&E and pay polices.
- Ability to work ideas through from idea to implementation and evaluation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication skills to include active listening, feedback, inquiry, and validation.
- Ability to think creatively and build consensus around a common vision.
