Job Description
The College of Dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis invites applications for a full-time General Dentist, Open Rank Professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Dental Hygiene.
Responsibilities
- Provide didactic and clinical instruction to dental hygiene students.
- Supervise and mentor students during patient care, ensuring the highest standard of clinical practice and safety.
- Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, presentations, and publications as appropriate.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and meetings as assigned.
- Contribute to community outreach, continuing education, and public service programs aligned with the department’s mission.
- Maintain compliance with all accreditation standards and state regulations relevant to dental hygiene education.

Requirements
Qualifications
EDUCATION: DDS, DMD, or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience in dental education or clinical supervision preferred. Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Prior teaching experience in a dental school setting is preferred but not required. Strong track record of excellence in teaching, service, patient care, research and scholarship preferred.
LICENSES: Active or eligible for a dental license in Tennessee.
