The Surgical Progressive Care Unit stands as a beacon of excellence and innovation in surgical services. Our dedicated team of nurses and specialists provide compassionate, exceptional care across a spectrum of surgical disciplines, including thoracic surgery, general surgery, otolaryngology, and urology surgeries.
Our unit is proud to support a wide range of specialized surgeries, including:
- Thoracic Surgery: Esophagectomy, Lung Resection
- General Surgery: Whipple Procedure, Distal Pancreatectomy and Splenectomy, Liver Resection, Bowel Resection
- Otolaryngology: Glossectomy, Mandibulectomy, Thyroidectomy, Neck Dissection
- Urology Surgeries: Cystectomy, Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection
These procedures require expert post-operative care, and our team is trained and equipped to manage the complexities involved.

Qualifications
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
