About You
You’ll build meaningful relationships with pets and their owners during the busy season, providing reliable care, preventive services, and urgent attention across fall, winter, and spring, knowing that during your tenure, you’re a trusted partner in their pet’s healthcare.
Experience & Skills Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) or equivalent degree required
- State Veterinary Board License in good standing for Florida prior to start
- Active DEA license or DEA-eligible
- Ability to commit to seasonal temporary veterinarian (November-April)
- Must be proficient in medicine and general surgery
- A strong communicator who loves building relationships with clients
- A good human who is kind, and plays well with others
- A dedicated veterinarian who takes pride in their work
- An ethical person who possesses strong emotional intelligence skills
- Willing to learn and strive for the betterment of the team
- Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights, weekends, and holidays
About the Hospital
Marathon Veterinary Hospital, part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare network, is the largest veterinary hospital in the Florida Keys located at 5001 Overseas Highway, Marathon, FL 33050.
We provide a comprehensive range of services including primary care, exotics medicine, internal medicine, urgent surgery, dentistry, integrative therapies (such as acupuncture), wildlife support, and emergency care with nursing staff available 24/7.
We are open Monday to Saturday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Join us for the high-demand season from November through April, full-time. You’ll deliver compassionate, high-quality care and experience a range of seasonal veterinary needs while supported by Thrive’s network. While this is a temporary seasonal role, we offer medical benefits to ensure coverage during your time with us. Other supplemental benefits such as PTO and discretionary funds are not included.
