Overview
A highly skilled Senior System Administrator is needed to support the management and maintenance of IT infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security, and executing scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments in alignment with customer requirements. This position is up to 50% on-site at the Austin Information Technology Center in Austin, Texas, United States. Core working hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CST.
Responsibilities
Proactively monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement innovative solutions to enhance reliability and security.
Ensure rigorous security compliance by overseeing access controls, backups, and firewall management.
Lead the administration of network servers and technology tools, driving continuous improvement and scalability.
Establish and configure user accounts and workstations to support seamless organizational productivity.
Execute system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools to maintain cutting-edge technology standards.
Maintain detailed internal documentation of system configurations and policies to ensure clarity, consistency, and operational excellence.
Prepare and maintain monthly POA&Ms for each Authority to Operate (ATO) package, reflecting the status of monthly vulnerability scans.
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/public trust clearance.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience (preferably in application support or development), or commensurate experience.
Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of consolidating national clinical and administrative datasets.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Ability to evaluate and resubmit controls for Authority to Operate validation on an annual basis.
Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
