- Veterinary Technician for Small Animal and Exotic Practice

Allentown Animal Care (AAC) is a five doctor exotic and small animal general practice located in South Whitehall Township, PA. We recently expanded into a 4,000 SF facility and are looking to expand our team as well. We see a large volume of exotic pets and even work with a few wildlife nature education centers and care for their little (and some not so little) critters! We are currently looking for a certified or experienced veterinary technician who is interested in working with all species of animals and have a special interest in exotics. Part time or full time hours are available. Veterinary Technician Supervisor position is available to the right candidate!
We have been in practice for over 40 years. Our hospital has a fully equipped in house lab, digital radiography, and full ultrasound capabilities. Our doctors perform surgery five days a week therefore surgical prep and anesthetic monitoring experience would be beneficial. Additional duties would include but not limited to, assisting the veterinarian in appointments, collecting and recording animal case histories, filling prescription medications, supportive care and treatments, and educating owners on pet care. The ideal candidate is trained in all aspects of companion animal medicine and strong customer service skills are essential along with a positive attitude and superior work ethic.

Schedule:
10 hour shift
8 hour shift
Monday to Friday – 2 evenings/week required
Alternating Saturdays (8am-2pm) – NO SUNDAYS
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
Conduct animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations.
Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
Provide support in animal husbandry practices, including feeding and grooming.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Skills
Minimum of 2 years veterinary experience.
Proficient in animal restraint techniques and handling various species.
Knowledgeable in veterinary practices
Anesthetic Monitoring experience and surgical prep.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques.
Understanding of animal physiology and husbandry principles.
Experience with exotics is a plus.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Compassionate approach towards animals and their owners.
