Description
Ross & Matthews, PC is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Traffic Department. This position offers the opportunity to manage a high-volume caseload while working directly with clients, courts, and prosecutors throughout Texas.
The Associate Attorney will be responsible for reviewing traffic citations and related case documents, advising clients regarding available legal options and court procedures, drafting pleadings and correspondence, and maintaining court and internal deadlines. The attorney will also appear in municipal and justice courts for pre-trial hearings, negotiations, and trials as needed.
This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. The position is hybrid, combining remote work with in-office collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review traffic citations, court records, and related case documents
- Conduct client consultations and provide legal guidance regarding traffic matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, prosecutors, and opposing counsel
- Manage court appearances, hearings, and trial settings
- Maintain accurate case files and monitor all court and internal deadlines
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case management
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- Knowledge of Texas criminal and traffic law
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain legal concepts effectively to clients and non-legal professionals
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and a high-volume caseload
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook)
- Strong computer skills and comfort working in a paperless environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience handling traffic, criminal, or municipal court matters
- Courtroom experience, including hearings and trials
- Experience working directly with clients in a fast-paced legal setting
