The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team on the day shift.

This role is ideal for an LVT who is confident managing emergency patients, enjoys working closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians, and can remain calm and organized in a fast-moving environment. You will be directly involved in triage, stabilization, diagnostics, treatments, procedures, hospitalized patient care, and client communication.

Day shift technicians play an important role in managing incoming emergencies, coordinating care for hospitalized patients, supporting specialty services, and ensuring strong handoffs between shifts.

What You’ll Do

• Provide hands-on nursing care for emergency, critical, and hospitalized patients.
• Assist with patient triage, stabilization, and ongoing assessment.
• Monitor patients closely and promptly communicate changes, treatment progress, adverse reactions, or concerns to the attending veterinarian and technician lead.
• Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and prescribed treatments while confirming proper dosages and monitoring patient response.
• Place and maintain intravenous catheters and assist with urinary catheters, feeding tubes, oxygen support, and other medically indicated interventions.
• Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, cytology, and other diagnostic specimens.
• Assist with radiographs, point-of-care testing, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Prepare patients, supplies, and equipment for emergency procedures, anesthesia, and surgery.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and pain-management protocols according to hospital standards.
• Operate, clean, and maintain monitoring equipment, anesthesia machines, oxygen-delivery systems, diagnostic tools, and other medical equipment.
• Maintain complete and timely medical records, including treatments, patient observations, procedures, and client communications.
• Communicate with clients compassionately and professionally regarding patient updates, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Assist with patient discharge and ensure clients receive clear aftercare and follow-up guidance.
• Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked treatment areas, patient cages, and equipment spaces.
• Participate in shift handoffs, team huddles, training, continuing education, and department meetings.
• Participate in on-call or emergency coverage responsibilities when assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• Current Texas LVT license or ability to obtain licensure before beginning employment.
• At least two years of experience in emergency, critical care, specialty, or a high-volume veterinary hospital preferred.
• Experience with emergency stabilization, hospitalized patient care, anesthesia, and post-operative recovery.
• Strong technical skills and sound judgment when caring for unstable or rapidly changing patients.
• Ability to prioritize effectively while supporting multiple patients and veterinarians.
• Clear, respectful, and compassionate communication with clients and coworkers.
• Strong documentation habits and attention to detail.
• Dependability, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
• Commitment to continued learning and professional growth.

Schedule

This is a full-time day-shift position. The schedule may include weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call coverage based on department needs.

Compensation

Pay: $26 - $35 depending on experience and assessment completion.

Sign-on bonus: $1,500 for eligible new hires, subject to the terms of the applicable sign-on bonus agreement.
