DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Department is looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) to join our Office of Quality Assurance and Technical Services (Office) team. An employee in this position works collaboratively with other employees and, at times, independently to fulfill audit quality assurance responsibilities for the department. Quality Assurance Specialists within the office maintain a proficient working knowledge of Government Auditing Standards, AICPA Professional Standards, as well as department policies and procedures to effectively complete duties. In this role, you will perform the following duties:
- Policy Work: Create audit policies and procedures in response to standards activity and areas of risk; develop presentations related to technical auditing standards and policies
- Monitoring Tasks: Carry out reviews to check that audit work meets quality rules and suggest steps to fix problems
- Standards Review: Examine auditing and attestation standards, laws, and regulations to understand how they affect audit quality and recommend ways to apply them
- Risk Assessment: Take part in identifying risks in the audit process and suggest ways to reduce those risks
- Technical Support: Prepare responses to questions about audit issues and help staff understand technical matters
- Peer and Record Review: Participate on peer reviews of other state audit organizations; prepare and review monitoring documents to explain procedures, results, and recommendations
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $78,925.00 (before taxes).

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years auditing experience conducting engagements in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and/or AICPA professional auditing or attestation standards; and
- Minimum of 2 years review experience to ensure audit documentation complies with applicable professional auditing and/or attestation standards.
- A master’s degree with accounting credits and/or other certifications relevant to the auditing profession will be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Possession and maintenance of an active license as a Certified Public Accountant
